As Economic Justice Australia’s Executive Officer, Leanne Ho, explained: “We wanted to see the positive COVID-19 measures extended in the budget. In the absence of announcements, people on JobSeeker Payment are left wondering whether their payment will drop to $40 a day from new year’s day. And newly arrived migrants face the prospect of losing payment altogether from 1 January.”
