Ashley moved from interstate to take up a job opportunity in regional Queensland. At the end of her first week of work she was invited out for drinks with her boss, who was also the owner of the business.

Believing that other staff would be attending she agreed to meet up after work on Friday.  Ashley did not think it was a date.

The night started out alright but after a while her boss started saying that she was pretty and was asking her about her sex life. At the end of the night he tried to kiss her. Ashley could not return to the workplace. Working Women Queensland assisted the client in lodging a sexual harassment complaint in the Queensland Human Rights Commission.

Ashley achieved a financial settlement that included her costs from moving interstate as well as general damages for the hurt and humiliation caused by the actions. The employer was also required to attend sexual harassment training.
